Life Dance (You Give Me Breath)

(October 2021)

“Life Dance (You Give Me Breath)” is an outdoor ensemble dance-theatre performance that explores inspiration, community, play, and interdependence. It is dedicated to the myth of the solo and the nuclear family. It is about the experience of being together and feeling alone, the unmistakable and overwhelming queer joy (and discomfort) that I am influenced, inspired, and supported by others–that I am never actually alone, always held as I carry them with me. Through song, choreography, and improvisation “Life Dance (You Give Me Breath)” seeks to return//queer our relationship with each other and the outdoors through play and sense of awe. The show invites the audience to notice and sense into our ecology, to locate our bodies as within and part of a series of intersecting relationships between each other and our environment–and to, dare we say, find pleasure and joy in doing so!
